Frederick H. Mr. B Bourcy, 87, of Red Lake Road died Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Mercy of Northern New York, Watertown.
Born January 11, 1925 in Watertown, he was the son of Joseph and Bernetta Hough Bourcy.
He was a 1943 graduate of Immaculate Heart Academy IHA, attended Wadhams Hall Seminary, Ogdensburg for a time and graduated in 1953 from Notre Dame University, Great Bend, IN with his Masters in Education.
Mr. Bourcy worked on the family farm in Potsdam, was a radio announcer with WWNY, Watertown in the early 1950s, began teaching at Theresa High School in 1955, and was promoted to principal of the Theresa and Antwerp Elementary Schools in 1970. He retired in 1990.
He was a long time member of the Theresa Fire Department, serving as President for many years, Theresa Rotary, St. Theresa Avila Catholic Church in Theresa, Thousand Island Girl Scout Council, IREA teachers union, serving as president for many years and was cofounder of the Theresa Wednesday Night Golf League in Alexandria Bay and Mr. B. Golf League Monday nights in Clayton. He dedicated his life to the youth in and around the Theresa area.
Mr. Bourcy enjoyed spending time in Myrtle Beach playing golf. He began going in the early 1970s and spent his winters there following his retirement.
Survivors include several nieces and a nephew and his close friends Allen and Terry Drake and family with whom he lived the last three years.
Three brothers, Joseph, Thomas and John Jack and a sister, Mary Bourcy died before him.
The funeral will be 10 am Wednesday at St. Theresa Avila Catholic Church, Theresa with Rev. Thomas Kornmeyer officiating. Burial in Penn Yan will be at a later date.
