Firefigther Kent M. West sadly answered his last call on Thursday September 30th, 2010. He was a 53 year member and previous Chief of the Theresa Fire Department and will be greatly missed by all.

Kent M. West, 89, of High Street died Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Samaritan Hospital.

Born September 29, 1921 in the town of Theresa. He was the son of the late Edwin and Ella Montondo West.

Mr. West attended Theresa School. He served for two years in the Pacific Theater. He retired in 1991 from Youngs Express, Inc., Watertown, after 35 years of service.

He married Grace Steacy on June 18, 1949 in Theresa where the couple have been life-long residents.

He was a 53 year member and past chief of the Theresa Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Northern New York Volunteer Firemans Association and Jefferson County Firefighters Association of which he had served as a treasurer for over 30 years. Mr. West is a member of the Masonic Lodge in Philadelphia and past member of Theresa Masonic Lodge 174, a member and past patron of The Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 149 and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6655 and Antwerp American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and his family.

Survivors including his wife are a sister, Dorothy Siewertson, of Alexandria Bay and a son and his wife, Daniel and Cindy, Malone two daughters and their husbands, Cindy and Gary Rowe, and Terry and Kevin Goyer, both of Watertown, 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his sister, Edna Barker, of Newark, NY.
